I've been hunkering after DSLR for the last month, after hearing how some friends had bought their own. How cool it will be, I would think, to be able to capture superb shots with ease. But then I began to realise that I have only had my present camera for less than a year. It's has some manual function, but is still an automatic camera. Sadly, I *still* haven't fully gotten into understanding and playing around with the manual controls, so... am I jumping ahead of myself here? I really think so.
So I've been taking pictures in the Manual mode, making adjustments to shutter speed/aperture/white balance/ISO, as I go along. I'm happy to say I've finally found a way to take good pictures with artificial indoor lighting or low-light situations without using flash - something that I have had a gripe with for a LONG time. This is fun! Now I really think I should go and read the manual... should have done that a long time ago, eh? So much to learn, so very impatient.
These are just some fun pictures taken outdoors:
Yup, that last picture is a photo taken of a plate of Wanton Noodles. I think we may have found the best tasting one in Singapore. At only $2 a plate, it's such a treat. :-)
And before I part, a couple of links to some good things:

You take those gorgeous pictures with a manual? I can only imagine what you'd be like with a full DSLR.
Yeah, I'm dreaming of one too. It's the shutter delay that does my head in.
