I am totally into books - making them. Today I'm feeling somewhat accomplished, because I just completed a little (ok, maybe not so little) project that I really like a lot: a photobook filled with my favourite pictures of J1 and J2.

It was inspired by this post (ain't she a talented woman?) and I went scouting around for local printshops that can do this for you. That was a couple of weeks ago, but somehow, I just did not get around to doing it. Then, a couple of days ago, the inspiration to assemble this book all from scratch hit, and I began the rather tedious process of putting the book together. This is the process, simplified:

1. Select and edit photos.
2. Add quotes, brushes and digital scrapbooking elements.
3. Prepare page layouts for print.
4. Print, trim and glue pages.
5. Design and cut book covers.
6. Assemble and bind book.

Sounds simple, and really it is! It just took a long time to edit the photos (there were about 40 of them!) and because everything is made by hand (trimming, assembling, gluing etc), it's a little bit raw in quality. Add to that my impatience for seeing the final product - I did not wait for the binding to dry completely before flipping through the book - big mistake! Nevertheless, I'm still enjoying seeing the whole thing put together and the photos finally in print. I'm very pleased with the printouts - very, very pleased. I really worked my printer for this and it didn't fail to deliver.

Also on the matter of making books, I made these handy little notebooks out of an assortment of blank, lined and grid papers. There are so many fun cover possibilities for these!
